A bottle of truoil will do a bunch of guitars, unless you are putting on a finish deep enough to dive into. You are putting the finish on raw wood. If it is a “new rifle” look that you're wanting, nothing short of a pro spray gun will deliver the effect.

The finish was hard so i sanded again and applied coat two. It was my third build. I went through a lot of grief discovering this the hard way.
If you go with stain, it may or may not be compatible with tru oil. If you apply to a perfectly slick surface, you actually increase the likelihood of finish failure. The finish hardens and protects just like the finishes of vintage guitars.

So ive got this soloist body (dont worry ill post pics of it hahah) its mahogany with a koa top. Its unique blend of linseed and other natural oils dries fast, resists water damage and will not cloud, yellow or crack with age. But i need to wax it.
It builds up layers and if you desire, you can achieve a high gloss finish. True oil is a gun stock finish so the directions are meant for people that want to put it on a gun.
